Golda
Not the worst movie ever i guess but it’s grossly one-sided. I don’t even think it’s worth picking apart but it doesn’t even bother addressing much of anything outside of Golda’s psyche and the guilt she felt about the Israeli soldiers who died. Even its criticism of her is posed purely from an Israeli perspective. It doesn’t even try to grapple with a different perspective. Nearly every character was Israeli or on the side of Israel and the humanity of the other side is never once considered. It doesn’t even seem to be pretending to be a grand statement. I can’t tell if it’s really propaganda or just another by-product of an industry where slop that presents itself as elevated and exists only to affirm people’s already held view of something. Either way, despite some interesting shots and being generally engaging, it felt kinda gross.
