Leon and Nadja as characters are pretty much polar opposites, accentuated by how Schubert and Beer carry themselves in their performances. Don’t think I’ve ever felt so drawn to one character and so put off by another only for them to be drawn together as such an important part of the story. Such an interesting and uncomfy 103 min to be a spectator, but Petzold somehow pulls real and delicate moments from their relationship.
