Dark comedy, the mob, Christmas Eve, good cast, John Cusack, every ingredient for me to love this, but it just wasn't enough. My love for John Cusack earned this 3 stars, but I realise more and more that he plays the same messed-up character, chill dude dying inside, making poor decisions every move, in every movie, and I think I'm fine with that.
I enjoyed the first part of the movie, tho, Cusack and Pratt wandering from bar to bar, drunk, being losers and sharing the same woman and the same fucked up life.

Been a while since i felt nothing watching a movie, this wasn't necessarily bad, I just wasnt engaged with the story or characters so I didn't get any enjoyment out of this.

Heard about this movie for the first time earlier this year when I watched the trailer for it on some random DVD. As soon as I saw it was a Christmas movie I added it to my watchlist because I need some Christmas movies. The cast is great and Harold Ramis is directing so I was ready for a good time !

Now yes this is a comedy heist movie, however it was a lot more dark/bleak comedy than I was expecting and also less of a heist movie. The first portion of the movie was kinda hard for me to get into. Trying to tie everything together, who was who and what was going on was surprisingly confusing (maybe I'm just dumb) and the movie felt unfocused. That said the performances were still so entertaining I for the most part still had a good time. The movie picks up and becomes more focused, yet I was so lost I never really got fully back into the movie... That said I still enjoyed in the direction it went. Fun story. But again alot darker than I thought.

The more important thing though is obviously if it was Christmasy. And ya know what I thought it was quite successful as a Christmas movie. There's some Christmas music playing here and there and the aesthetic of it does bring a bit of christmas vibes. So even though this movie didn't quite turn out as I had expected (and maybe not as good) I still had a good time with it
