amber heard in a slasher?
i like how this does prioritise character building and atmosphere over immediate violence, allowing us to get to know the characters a decent amount and also to know the basic premise of the story. there’s a really nice visual style that reminded me a lot of the texas chainsaw massacre, the use of the retro tinged colour pallet and the sun flare made this feel like a gritty horror experience. it has nice commentary about the male gaze, and the objectification of women. it shows amber heard’s early years and how she’s developed over the years, but yeah it was definitely fun seeing her in a slasher. i think the reasons i didn’t like this as much is it’s just too slow paced, it takes too long on the characters and nothing really happens in both the first 2 acts. it relies on a lot of horror cliches, the ending was a little odd and i just wasn’t really connected to it.
