IRONICALLY felt this in my bones, which is funny considering my mom's the only one with the batak ethnicity in my immediate family, but growing up being closer to my mom's side of the family really helped me grasp the context of this film better
first of all fuck the patriarchy, fuck you bapak domu, fuck you domu, fuck you gabe, and lastly fuck you sahat
i couldn't help but to find so much fucking painful similarity between sarma and my mom, i cried tornados for my mom, feeling sorry for her to have to grow up putting EVERYONE first but herself, i despise that even until now she struggles to enjoy having free time for herself and not feeling guilty for taking a break
i really hope sarma got the freedom she yearns, i really hope she can live happily without thinking of others for once, and prioritize herself, i hope the same things too for my mom
