Newly-promoted if none too happily married Howard Brubaker leaves a rowdy company party early with the stunning Catherine, whom it turns out is herself unhappily married — to the boss. They spend an innocent night in New York becoming more and more attracted to each other, so that when Catherine announces she intends to leave her husband and return to Paris, Howard asks to go along too.

An April fools watch and only stayed for Catherine
The juxtaposition of the acting styles between the new wave and golden age was fun to see, but as a film I think it's lacking substantially, not necessarily discardable. Gorgeous visuals though, you can never go wrong with 60s interior and visuals shot in technicolor

you'll figure out why i watched this if you take notice of the day, but believe me, i mean everything i say. THIS MOVIE WAS SO CUTE!!! i need to marry jack lemmon and catherine deneuve and myrna loy and charles boyer actually. myrna loy and charles boyer deserved more screentime. potter and benson are not it and i also had enough of peter lawford.
myrna is just the cutest and that's not a new discovery (her little scrunch face in the thin man? it's everything to me.) it's not something i'm normally into but if she wanted to tell me about my horoscope i would sit my ass down and LISTEN. hoping it comes with the tarot reading too. i was so excited when she showed up!!!
charles!!! i've got some of his older movies on my watchlist already, definitely going to have to see more of his work. i seriously doubt this is a proper introduction to him but still, he has charmed me already with his love for fencing and random switches to japanese.
catherine is jaw-droppingly beautiful but you don't need me to tell you that!!! i don't think there's anything to say that hasn't already been said but she is just stunning and i really like her eyes??? when she's smoking a cigarette near the time her character is introduced... holy moly...
