The plot wasn’t super interesting, it was a pretty basic mob movie but still somewhat entertaining. The characters were pretty good, they weren’t super original but they worked out well. A calm, calculated older man, his live-wire son, a seductive girl who’s very smart and doesn’t really have any morals, all fall into pre-established tropes. The pacing was really good, it fit well with the comical tone of the movie and didn’t leave anything out. The scenes didn’t last super long, it went by quick, but it didn’t feel unnatural. The world building was fantastic, the outfits and atmosphere fit the time period perfectly. The only issue was the speech of the characters, it seemed more modern and put a slight damper on the 30s setting. For the themes, there really no morals in this movie. They tried to have one around Quick learning to be less hot-headed and learn to play smart, but they abandoned it when his moves always worked out for him. The only reason it’s not lower is the comedy, which I didn’t like at all. To me, it was dry and boring. The cinematography was pretty decent, it wasn’t super artistic but it was fine to look at. I think it fit well with the movie. For emotional impact, I didn’t really feel a think while watching it. The comedy also didn’t really hit for me, so it didn’t really bring out my feelings. It wasn’t very unique either, the plot and characters were pretty standard and the setting was too. The only think somewhat different was that it took place in Harlem. The dialogue was pretty good, I think it could have been comedic for other people and it did a good job of telling the story. Overall, this movie didn’t really stand out to me, but it wasn’t a pain to watch.
