8.4/10 a very nice story. I mean I love Michael Douglas as The Game was such an amazing watch for me so I knew I would probably like this. The late Robert Reiner directed this and this was my second Robert Reiner movie. I think the romance was beautiful and the whole concept of this idea was pit together amazingly and especially towards the end Michael Douglas absolutely gets in his bag. My only critique which I find as a critique but it didn’t really bother me. This movie was just not entertaining at all for me. I don’t know why but it was a great movie but I didn’t get that feeling I usually do with a great movie. I did step out of my bag with this one being a romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely am going to have to get to more Reiner movies.

Some people may watch this and feel nostalgia for an America where a president could even have a 63% approval rating and fight for climate legislation, but I’m longing for the competent lighting and movie stars having actual sexual chemistry

If only American presidents were this efficient, reasonable and charming...😅

Aaron Sorkin sure can put together words into sentences in a way that I find oh, so compelling and impressive. Even though I don't find this movie that visually appealing (it kinda suffers from "TV movie lighting") that script and the performances by a rather stacked cast takes this one from above average to great 👍🏼 Annette Bening is strong and independent while also being absolutely endearing. Michael Douglas makes for a dashing and soft spoken but also commanding head of state. My favorite surprise was to see Michael J. Fox. I haven't seen that many movies with him in them while he was still hiding his condition, but I thought he was really good in this.
I think this is like a hidden gem and that's too bad because Rob Reiner did good with this one. If you want to be charmed and need an escape from today's world politics - this is the perfect choice ✨

The first time they meet. The first phone call. The dancing. THE WHITE SHIRT. I was screaming at the tv.

“Who cares about The West Wing as a romcom, I’ve already seen My Date with the President’s Daughter like 10 times.” - the dumbest thing I’ve ever said. Consider it officially stricken from the record.
