All That Breathes is a very cinematic documentary, a style that works wonders as the film progressed, showing the decay of the streets and the eventually civil conflicts that lead to death and destruction. These things affect humans, but they can change the instincts of animals as well. Natural selection and evolution are important aspects for the survival of species, if you have a certain thing wrong with you in the animal kingdom compared to the others, depending on your setting, you're fucked. This documentary acknowledged that sentiment, depicting the ways in which this community interacts with the animals that inhabits their side and how some try to help those less fortunate, in this case bird of prey, specifically kites, in situations that prove themselves to be extremely dangerous. I can't imagine this film done in the traditional way as the film looks beautiful despite it's subject and the music complemented the shots that were being presented. I thought the transition between the birds and how the men treat them and then comparing their struggles at the face of conflict was great and presented some interesting visual poetry; a solid documentary.
