Over the past few years I’ve gotten a lot more into metal, punk, and goth music, thanks to my partner. I had almost no interest in those genres before, but the more immersed I’ve gotten, the more I’ve loved it. The band featured in this doc, Slave to Sirens rocks! The footage of their performances was electric, even when they had tiny crowds.
The relationship at the center of this documentary is also sweet, showing the romance between two of the band members while their love is being threatened by their government. While I don’t think the doc delves incredibly deep, the juxtaposition between the central relationship, the music, and the political unrest in Lebanon is well done and made me emotional. I’m rooting for these girls!
