My second Chase Joynt documentary, Framing Agnes is a lofty excavation of trans history and a clear passion project for all involved. The innovative format effectively obfuscates the traditional divide between fiction and non-fiction through the use of staging transcript re-enactments and talking head interviews. While I could have done with less of the meta cross-commentary on the set of the re-enactments, I could listen to Jules Gill-Peterson speak all day.
