SPOILERS AHEAD. WATCH OUT!

Sometimes, the love of your life becomes the beast of your life. And by that I mean that the union of Gabrielle and Louis could eventually generate something worse in the future. In my initial reading, I didn't come to personify "The Beast"; for me, it would be the indifference that time would bring to this love. But... Thinking about it, such an intense love wouldnt be affected by that. Perhaps instead, it would create something much worse.

The seer indicates the dove as an omen of death. If we think of the dove as a representation of the Holy Spirit, why would it prevent such a strong love? Perhaps it's not about preventing love itself, but what this love could generate.

Perhaps the real danger is the future "monster" that Gabrielle and Louis would be capable of creating. If this love bore fruit, that fruit could be "The Beast": not the romantic disappointment that always returns, but something even more destructive, capable of causing ruin—like an earthquake or a flood.

Some details reinforce this idea, especially the dolls. A childlike object that appears in every life: in one, linked to Gabrielle's husband's work; in another, inexplicably appearing and even speaking to her; and in its last appearance, literally becoming a being—a soulless being, but one that (somehow) loves Gabrielle, even though it is incapable of feeling anything whatsoever.

Perhaps this relationship with the dolls reveals something hidden: "The Beast" is not indifference, but rather the possible fruit of the love between Gabrielle and Louis.

"The Beast" could indeed be paranoia, fear, the incel threat, anxiety, or ultimately emotional disconnection... while the dolls would only serve as a generational inheritance. However... Is it too crazy to think that "The Beast" could be something completely different and that it would only become something in a future that destiny (or God) couldn't prevent? I don't know, and I can't know which of the two hypotheses is genuine; all I know is that both interpretations appeal to me. I feel there's still so much more to get out of this story, more details to be discovered, or rather... perceived.

Fortunately I have seen enough Lynch and Tarkovsky films to make a lot of sense of this, while there is so many layers and very ambiguous plot lines left open for many interpretations I loved what I saw and was able to take in. The cinematography in this is incredible, it’s so minimal and sharp while also breathtaking. Cant wait to rewatch and pickup new things.

Fortunately I have seen enough Lynch and Tarkovsky films to make a lot of sense of this, while there is so many layers and very ambiguous plot lines left open for many interpretations I loved what I saw and was able to take in. The cinematography in this is incredible, it’s so minimal and sharp while also breathtaking. Cant wait to rewatch and pickup new things.

In reflection with a friend (who didn't even seen the film), I was able to extract even more from the story, another point of view. We didn't discuss it in depth (because it was impossible), but just with his response to my basic account of what the film was about, I was able to reflect on something I hadn't thought of... sometimes a distant point of view ends up being more accurate than a super profound one, anyway... here it is: "it simply wasn't meant to be, that's why it wasn't." All the disappointment of almost loving each other to the fullest, along with the inability to simply progress side by side... or rather, the inability to leave it behind; perhaps all of this was just the destiny making sure they don't feel another kind of pain... perhaps the water, the sociopathy, the inhibition, and the adultery only served to prevent an even greater tragedy from happening: future indifference, after all, we don't know (and will never know) if both would flourish and live on a love that remains in a strong and natural light forever.

Waiting for love can kill you... literally, or inside.
