Maybe I’m easily pleased by sci-fi or easily fooled by a plot but I had such a great time with this and it kept me guessing for literally the entire runtime. The dialogue isn’t anything to write home about but the way this story was structured was so entertaining, again I am a sucker for a psychological space thriller so contrary to the common belief this served as exactly that to me. I loved Casey Affleck here, probably my favorite role I’ve seen of his thus far, I haven’t seen much of his work to be fair but this certainly has me interested in seeing more. This is one of my favorite Fishburne performances of recent years too, I figured he’d work well here because of how great he was in Event Horizon and I wasn’t wrong, I’m happy to see he’s still got it. My big knock on this would be the number of flashback scenes, I’m fine with a few here and there to show the importance of the relationship but this definitely crossed that “too much” line. Watching this movie might’ve pissed me off a few years ago with how it leaves you with way more questions than answers but I’ve learned to appreciate that so much over the years, I hope movies like this keep getting made.
