Ga-ga: Glory to the Heroes

I am loving Piotr Szulkin’s work at the moment. He’s got such a magnificent take of satirical films, combining sci-fi elements with intensely absurd imagery and ideas. This film was definitely a lot more bizarre than War of the Worlds: Next Century 1988, which felt more grounded and easier to grasp. I did really enjoy this, the atmosphere was grimy and grotesque, there were so many sleazy and slightly disturbing moments which was quite fun. There was still a satirical message throughout the film although it was more difficult to grasp the War of the Worlds, it was something along the lines of authoritarian systems that replace real human life with an artificial, and very ridiculous, sense of heroism, and how ideology can be so easily fed to the people in order to control them. Even if I did miss the message of the film I still adored the grimy aesthetic of it, Szulkin is a master of creating such creepy environments. Loved it!

Certainly it was a really good experience to watch this Tetralogy after each other.

This part was a really big compilation of the other parts pros. meshed together. It was rather surrealistic actually, but in a decent way only.
The allegories was really good and I really liked the idea behind astronauts being government driven individuals to certain death, traveling to other planets as visiting other countries that is certainly looks alien compared to a totalitarian regime etc. It was really easy for me to understand the paralells which is weird because if I was able to then back then how it slipped through the minds of the critics as a surrealist sci-fi?

It was a really good watch and I hope someday they Tetralogy would be more appreciated. Every part deserves it's attention and they easily serve as a look-through for Piotr Szulkin's current (at that time) opinion about life in Poland.

Straaaasznie podobał mi się temat filmu i co krytykuje. Cały film wygląda jak postapokaliptyczna, niezależna gra przygodowa, szczególnie ten vibe dawał pan sprzedający hot dogi. Wszystko super tylko postacie kobiece były do dupy, a tego nienawidze.
