it’s quite crazy for me to say this is one of tyler’s best movies, but that also isn’t saying much. you can clearly see that there was way more effort put into this (in comparison to the madea movies) and i was willing to see how it would’ve went when he branched out of that genre but … this one was not it. jumping on to the wagon of retelling another story of forbidden love between two races just did not work in his favor, and the ending really sealed my dislike for the movie unfortunately.

Tyler Perry, how dare you end this tragically! This is my favorite film by Tyler yet and frankly it’s one of my favorite films ever made. With a sprinkle of a little bit of everything in more serious Tyler Perry fashion, this film leaves you holding on the next day. Tyler Perry makes what i like to call “b+ budget” films and this is by far the best example of that. It’s good to a certain extent- well budgeted, has good writing, good actors, good costumes, set, etc but to a b+ budget rate. If you enjoy films that don’t have to be perfect in a high class way this is YOUR film.
