i think that i have also struggled with my gender identity because lesbianism is inherently gender non conforming. obviously the black lesbian/stud experience is quite different than what ive personally experienced, and it was amazing seeing it depicted in this.
even with almost all of the people focused on in this documentary later coming out as transgender, i think its still such a perfect depiction of this aspect of being a lesbian.
despite being far less professional and polished than paris is burning (and very very dated), i love this. far from perfect but i dont care
