Hooptober XI - #23/31

A giallo that reminds me of altered states for some reason. Even though that doesn’t come out for another 22 years. Without the acid trip psychedelic imagery, there is more of a dream like psychosis surrounding the movie taking a while to catch on but wraps up with a satisfying ending

Weird. I like it a lot. I can’t tell what Petri was trying to do here, but all art is in some way about art itself, right? I think that’s what this film is about. The imagery is acute: fat red globs of paint that eventually colour out Leonardo’s sanity just as he colours out the insane ghost.
