the concept of an interactive documentary is so cool to me, but the execution fucking DELIVERS. it takes u to the miracle of hearing a fart to some guy blaring music in your neighborhood at 3am to bombs being dropped on your city to the haunting choir of insects on your lawn.

I never expected to get misty eyed. it was magical man. I need to watch more documentaries.

Entertains a lot of pretentious “high art” in sound and the main narrator talks like a horror youtuber trying too hard to be dramatic but it is saved by how insightful and diverse the interviewees are

32 Sounds’ interest in the sense of hearing is poetic, if not entirely scientific. The philosophic waxing and waning of how sound plays a role in our day to day lives is presented here in thirty-two aural landscapes. Inadvertently the film ends up exploring the relationship between sight and sound as our two most prominent senses used to interact with the world, and its interactive nature serves to heighten sound, even if headphones are only an approximation of sound rather than the real thing - as even observed in one section about loud music. Perhaps not a complete experiment as a result, at the very least 32 Sounds is a delight in its own right.
