Ryuji
seventh log of japanuary.

to change is hard. to be good is even harder.

ryuji is about a yakuza who quits his gang to focus on his small family, though it’s hard when you’ve been living dishonestly for such a long time. the film itself is pretty mundane, showing ryuji’s life during and after the yakuza with a slower pace and far less thrilling action than i expected. i like that the story doesn’t sugarcoat things: people won’t magically fix themselves permanently. it takes time. a long time or maybe they'll never truly change at all.
