The Island of Dr Moreau follows the Weasley patriarch as he is rescued and brought to the titular island. There, Marlon Brando as the good Dr and Val Kilmer as his psychotic assistant are playing God and creating human-animal hybrids.
Idk if I fully agree but a lot of folks would say the lore behind the movie is a the film itself. Val Kilmer diva’d hard enough to get the director fired immediately, Marlon Brando and his odd improvisations, and that first director sneaking back on set not to regain control of his movie but just to watch the whole thing burn. Definitely worth watching a YouTube video about it because I’ll regurgitate no more.
Onto the movie, I have probably as many good and bad things to say about the movie. It wasn’t scary but the action was fun, the CGI sucked but the costumes were really impressive, the Weasley patriarch annoyed me but but our top billing freaks were actually killing it in the strangest of ways, and every little decision and detail was just bizarre but I like that, I liked this movie! Two of these strange decisions can be seen in the background image and I’d just like to quickly point them out 1) Moreau is allergic to the sun and thus wears that outside while being carried around like Xerxes 2) That miniature companion of his would go onto famously parody mini-me!
My final verdict: A most enjoyable watch that kinda reminded me of Megalopolis, it’s not even bad, just in a league of its own. Free on Tubi, please check it out sometime.
