Really nothing wrong with a western saga's like this.. that said, I did enjoy it. Pacing was definitely too long but at least the cinematography was nice. Only watched it because I loved yellowstone. I know you can do a little bit better than this, kevin costner.

Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 falls into the trap that some large-scale, long-running films do. The plot doesn't hold up and falls apart after the first hour. Of course, it can be interesting to see how the characters develop, and that's what caught my attention the most about this whole project, but honestly, I haven't been able to connect with it, and besides, there are still three more parts that we'll probably never get to see due to the failure of this one. I have faith that Kevin Costner can change the landscape in the next parts.

Big and shallow and thats alright because Kevin Costner has promised us 3 more movies, all of which will definitely come out because part ones’s astounding technical, financial, and emotional achievements, right?

I really respect Costner for his ambitious statement that there will be 4 parts, I think he’s fucking insane for ending part one with a 10 minute dialogue free “next time on Horizon” like that’s just delusional. Why? Because the first part wasn’t particularly good, primarily because of its Cable/streaming mini-series vibes at times. No shade on the western shows, I just find their best traits to be the setting building and not much beyond that, and I would apply that logic here. A lesser Lonesome Dove.

Where’s the second one btw? I read somewhere it’s already premiered so release it you cowards! I fear someone’s holding it hostage while they try and figure out if they’ll even fund and finish parts 3 and 4. 

My one real compliment is I liked the colors of the movie, maybe it’s sacrilege to say this but I don’t mind a little color in my westerns!
