ya know i lost it at the pie, i completely tuned out after you know what happens to you know who. then it happened again. i completely ignored the entire cleanup/car ride/boating sequence. the ending confirmed my suspicion yet i felt no satisfaction. and that’s kinda what makes it so effective.
because this (or something similar, likely worse than what occurred here) has happened countless times to all sorts of people everywhere, simply for being there in the first place. i’ll give the film this, it’s effective at pissing me off the most, like it took everything in me not to scream. at one point i thought that nothing else could surprise me at this point. then that ending. idc anymore tbh.
i’ll also say tho, this could have been prevented if they left… as a colored person, it’s unfortunately way less trouble to just leave than to stand up for yourself, at least most of the time anyway. sometimes it’s good to stand up. when you have a larger group of course.
i get what it’s trying to do, and it does suck that it got to me so badly, since this was well made. well shot in the “one take” way, well acted for the most part, i wasn’t disappointed with it. but its reality just makes it all the more grim, i seriously do like it, it just needs to settle. i think. i wanted to kinda sob from anger at one point if that helps.
