Sometimes you just gotta say What The Fuck and let the credits roll.
If you would ask me right now what this movie is about or what it's trying to say, I'd have no idea whatsoever.
It starts off pretty strong, the score is banging and it's genuinely peak. The plot starts going into the "teenager/young adult: home alone" direction and lets you feel it. That's also where the famous slide in comes from (in the retrospective as well). Then you just wait for something to happen, like with the car or his house. It gets overwhelming in many senses but it certainly doesn't push hard enough. The stress factor stays adequate except for a few scenes where it gets really stressful, still nothing like a Safdie Drama. Instead it chose to present itself in many different facettes without doing anything fully. It's entertaining and more light but with a shot of adrenaline.
Solid 3 stars
Good movie but honestly why the hell was that made, what purpose does it serve. I initially thought it's maybe about how it feels to be a young adult, all these overwhelming challenges but to be honest the movie doesn't really support that take at all
