This movie is somehow an even bigger step down from the first one, which is honestly impressive. If you thought the characters were hollow last time, oh boy this movie doubles down on that problem hard. They’re not even really characters anymore, they’re just bodies with weapons. All they do is kill people. That’s it. No strategy, no clever plans, no real attempts to out think the enemy just endless shooting like that’s supposed to carry an entire final battle. And speaking of that battle, how are we supposed to care when everyone feels exactly the same? Nobody stands out, nobody has a unique role, and nobody brings any actual ideas to the table. On top of that, the movie is somehow even more boring than the first. Which shouldn’t be possible in a movie that’s basically nonstop fighting but here we are. Also how the hell did Atticus Noble survive the last movie???? It feels like the film doesn’t even care enough to explain it properly. He’s just back because the plot needs him, and that kind of lazy writing sums up the whole experience. This movie is completely pointless. It has all the same problems as the first one probably worse and adds nothing meaningful to the story. And every single scene is slo motion. It’s like Zack Snyder is trying to convince you something cool is happening when it really isn’t. It exhausting. If you take out the expo dumps and flashbacks nothing at all happens. To give it some credit the cinematography is still really good, and the final battle is fine. I hate this movie.
