Katherine introduced me to one of her favorite movies tonight.

She’s been begging for a while, and we finally watched! 

Really strong movie. Daniel Day-Lewis is great, as always.

The score absolutely rips. The Last of the Mohicans’ theme is going to be stuck in my head, and I thought the score was perfectly accentuating to the film. 

A few things pull it down from being perfect: certain writing choices and legit pacing wonkiness. Still great.

The Last of the Mohicans is an interesting and mixed bag; while it's visually stunning, the plot was unfortunately not as stirring until the last act. Daniel Day-Lewis did a fantastic job as Hawkeye, and as the main antagonist Wes Studi was truly formidable as Magua, but the rest of the cast paled in comparison. I wasn't the biggest fan of the soundtrack, either, though I liked the costumes and makeup.
So, overall, while I'm glad I watched this at least once, I don't known if I'll be revisiting it in the future.

→ side-note: why did daniel day-lewis have much nicer hair than me in this, i'm actually so jealous 😭

The score, cinematography, and acting is so incredibly top tier and amazing. Although the first half of the story felt slow and the story almost felt like a history class presentation, the second half is easily one of my best cinematic experiences. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. All the emotional beats hit just right. My favourite moment has to be the scene where Hawkeye and Uncas were shooting on the wall and switching guns. Absolute aura.

Also, daniel day lewis just looks really beautiful and so is the man that played Uncas.
