Always up for some sweet choreography, the movie really gets you hooked from the motel scene. It's all cutesy hand-to-hand dancing until daddy pulls out the 40 caliber. From there, the whole movie is guns blazing, although the story is some random fever dream that isn't that good, but obviously the bullets compensate for that. The main character is like a calmer John Wick.

The Killer is a fun action film that falls flat with its story and characters. Easily the best part of the film was its action. It had some great choreography and was shot very well. The characters are disappointing. They could have been good but they failed to make them have compelling character growth. For awhile at the start of the film, our protagonist isn’t killing anyone. All of a sudden, he starts killing again. It would have been so much more compelling if he had to come to terms with killing again. The themes are basically non-existent or very basic. The story is there to get from one action set-piece to another. Overall, The Killer reminds me of The Beekeeper. It’s a dumb action film with an overpowered protagonist who is never in any real danger seeking revenge on people who wronged him in some way. With better story and characters, The Killer could have been a great action film.
