Im not super into rom-coms but this one is by far the most unique I’ve seen. What makes this one shine is the unique way the characters interact with eachother. It feels unnatural and borderline unrealistic. At the same time, thats exactly what gives the film so much character. It displays this dynamic of professional enemies where the conflict is softened by everyone making jokes while fighting. This technique is very risky, and today it’s over done. But at the time this was made it was genius.

'Semi-Neutral Stripes'.

The beginning and the ending are great, and while the middle of the movie has some fun moments like the scene between Martin and Dan Aykroyd in the diner, the middle chunk falls into a repetitive cycle. The gags are great when it revolves around the hitman aspect, while the awkward "remember high school" comedy doesn't work for me.

John Cusack holds this movie together with his charming wit, and his chemistry with Minnie Driver makes their scenes fun to watch. Dan Aykroyd looked like Tom Arnold in this movie, and it threw me off every time he was on screen, but he was fun, too.

While I wish they had developed more aspects of Martin's character, like his desire not to be in this profession anymore, this movie was a fun time that may be closer to a 2.5 than a 3.5, but whatever.

Naive and chaotic movie, but fuck it’s so likeable for me, it hits me good

I liked therapy scenes again and all of this professional killer starts to feel something with his love is great.
