The last of Lubitsch's German works and probably one of his last on such an epic scales as this, which, frankly, I'm grateful for. Not entirely engaging, and the missing scenes did throw me off quite a bit, but there's something to be said for the story. This feels like such a step up visually just in terms of light and shadow, really makes the movie look all the more impressive. But still plenty of orientalist Egypt depictions and somehow both brownface and whitewashing, I'm not too upset about not being into this.
