All My Life

1966·Music·3m
7.1
The film is made up of one single take. The camera pans to the left, focusing on a dilapidated fence in a rural field, as Ella Fitzgerald's "All My Life" plays on the soundtrack. At the end of the 3 minute film, the camera tilts up to the blue sky just as the song ends.

All My Life
At a brisk 2 minutes and 45 seconds, this film evokes a great deal of nostalgia and sadness for days gone by. The imagery of the picket fence having lost its paint with age and having been overgrown with greenery and flowers paired with the fallout-esque recording of Ella Fitzgerald makes for a devastating take on the reality of the American dream. We even see a power line above everything showing modernization as we leave behind a bygone era. Or maybe I’m just reading too much into a film with pretty flowers and pleasant jazz 🤷‍♂️
