At a brisk 2 minutes and 45 seconds, this film evokes a great deal of nostalgia and sadness for days gone by. The imagery of the picket fence having lost its paint with age and having been overgrown with greenery and flowers paired with the fallout-esque recording of Ella Fitzgerald makes for a devastating take on the reality of the American dream. We even see a power line above everything showing modernization as we leave behind a bygone era. Or maybe I’m just reading too much into a film with pretty flowers and pleasant jazz 🤷♂️
