I'm not sure exactly how to express my thoughts for this without spoiling it...
The good: - The parts they do show remain largely faithful to the book - Olivia de Havilland delivers a fabulously ambiguous performance - The mystery is decently represented
The bad: - The first half cuts out so much that the character/relationship development feels completely out of the blue (the second half does a better job with pacing) - Some of the direction ruins the ambiguity that's so marvelous in the book
