Uhtred 🤌🏽 Finan 🤌🏽 Sihtric 🤌🏽 Great to see all the OG actors from the series in the movie, especially in the closing scene.

“Destiny is All!”
wtf was this man.
The show The Last Kingdom is amazing. 5 fantastic seasons. And a damn good finale. I then found out there was a canon movie to the franchise, kinda like a season 5.5.> It breaks my heart to see how ass this was. A regular season of TLK is 10 eps, 1 hour each ep. So you got 10 hours to build to, add to, and finish some storylines. This movie attempts to do all of that in 2 hours. They tried to condense what honestly could have been 2 seasons into 2 hours. Isn’t that ridiculous?> The pacing was god awful. But how could it be good? You can’t fit this much content into 2 hours and expect it to play out well.> They killed some of the fan-favorite characters simply for the sake of shock factor. None of those characters needed to die. They just needed to add some stakes to the story. So what do you do? Needlessly kill fan favorites.> But all of the characters they didn’t kill, they assassinated their characters and development arcs completely and utterly.> How tf do you get a character who grew up a monk, and is one of the most Christian people in the story, and make him gay? Then take it a step further and have this man choose to become a tyrant when that goes against everything his character stood for and believed in from the show? It’s immensely frustrating.> I did partially enjoy this film. Mainly because I just binged 5 seasons and I love all of these characters, and I got to spend 2 more hours with them. But I wish this movie built something that was special.> The ending shot was the cherry on top. I don’t like the ambiguous ending, but seeing into Valhalla and all the old characters that have died was super cool.If I ever choose to rewatch TLK, I’m not watching this. This didn’t happen. This isn’t canon. I refuse to acknowledge this.

so i finished all 5 seasons of the show and then watched the movie and this movie made me feel odd. i really enjoyed aethelstan and ingulmundr’s plotline and i throughly enjoyed uthred and his gang’s plotline (with the death of ingrith and everything) but there were parts like the members of the six kings alliance that felt underwhelming and undeveloped. i found myself not caring at all what happens to anlaf and his daughter and i think its purely because the format is so much shorter movie wise.
overall its hard to guage how i feel about this film but i might be leaning towards the lower side since all of the things i enjoyed in this movie came from my admiration for the show.
