Cinematography-wise, Dirt Bag is easily the best out of Karsten’s other directed films. The character development and emotional connection also feel stronger, though that might be helped by the slightly longer runtime compared to his other shorts. While the plot itself isn’t extremely strong, the film’s solid technical elements make it worth a watch in my opinion.

Fair play to Karsten he definitely somewhat has the skills to back up the criticism. I'm excited to see his future work.

Maybe I'm too hung up on even shorts having a "point" to make, or something along the lines of this. But I feel like even if I'm investing only 11 minutes into something, I should leave with more then just quirky vibes. Quite well made but lacks something to make it all click.

Just watched Karstens video about needing funding for his next short, Douglas, Nevada. That reminded me that I never actually got round to watching Dirtbag. I'm defintely bias cause Karsten is one of the main reasons I'm so interested in film and why I'm doing the uni course I'm doing. That said I thought this was lovely, nothing groundbreaking but it did all the little things right for me. It sounded great, looked great, I liked the editing and the way the story played out and I was smiling throughout.
I really want Karsten to go and do something increadible.
