Thought she was holding a vape no girl this is 2001 that’s a highlighter
I don’t know how I’m meant to write a presentation on this. At least all the other films for this unit did something interesting with their presentation or sound or cinematography or anything

honestly i really enjoyed this. the relationship drama plus the slight mystery made for a really good movie. i'm sure the play is good too, but this just worked awesome as a film.

Lantana turns the cracks in relationships into something quietly threatening. A slow burn that lingers like a thorn you can’t quite pull out.

This film was decent, some sound performances and very solid direction. A great character study, but unfortunately I cared for some of the plot lines and characters far more than others. The main plot line, for me, with leon and sonja was the most solid and a brilliant study of a struggling marriage. However, there were a quite a few things I didn’t like. Sometimes the way the characters were interconnected was a bit much for me, sometimes it just felt like they would put characters in the same scene together just for the sake of it and it didn’t really lead anywhere or serve a purpose, like there’s just a point for me where the pure coincidence of them being so interconnected just becomes absurd. The editing was abysmal to say the least, way too many cut to blacks and the continued choice of the same riff over and over again for the music became really obnoxious very quickly and completely took me out of the film. I found the ending montage where they had a final moment for each character was a little forced and I didn’t feel it was needed, it should have just ended with leon listening to the tape. But, overall I can definitely say I liked it. Did it have its problems? Yes. But I was invested enough in what was going on and I commend it for that, it’s very difficult to juggle as many characters as this film did and in the end, I felt it did a good job.
