for some reason this watch i was struck with the sheer number of frank zappa records in that damn store... i feel like a good re-edit would fix most of the pacing problems with this movie but i did especially love seeing reactions to the hacking scene. was losing it during patrick macgoohan's dramatic ass monologue to no one, which ends with him just being shot in the head. jenna asked me mid-movie "do they ever explain why they're called scanners" and i just had to say no

Disappointed me with this one cronenberg

A world where corporate mind-control psychos engulf human paranoia. Plainly quite a dull story, but as usual, Cronenberg never fails when it comes to body horror techno-surrealism. From how iconic the iconic exploding head to the ominous final scene, the practical effects are simply astounding. Michael Ironside as Darryl Revok is one bonkers villain. This movie might not hold up narratively very well, but it’s an enjoyable one nonetheless.

There’s nothing really special about this. Pretty good rainy day nap on the couch kind of movie. The melting phone scene was cool and the last 5 min had some cool practical effects.
