Yeah… this one was a huge letdown.
Right from the start, Mission: Impossible 2 is overloaded with unnecessary slow-motion shots. It’s like every moment—no matter how small—had to be “epic,” and it just ends up feeling cheesy. Then there’s the romance between Ethan and Nyah, which felt completely forced. No buildup, no spark, just there to add drama that doesn’t feel earned.
Ambrose was actually interesting at first. Using Ethan’s identity to deceive people was a cool idea and made him seem like a real mastermind. But instead of building on that, the movie turns him into a generic, irrational villain. It’s frustrating because he could’ve been so much better.
And don’t even get me started on the ending. A dove dramatically flying through an explosion? A motorcycle joust like it’s an action parody? Then Ethan kicks a gun in the air and catches it mid-fight. It’s so over-the-top, it’s hard to take any of it seriously.
Still got a lot more Mission: Impossible movies to go, but this easily feels like the weakest. I have no clue what John Woo was going for here.
