Sam Raimi original idea of Darkman is pretty solid. Expert at disguise, decent detective, brilliant scientist and enhanced strength. I wish he was played more less as a antihero as his intention of why he started to develop synthetic skin was more for other people's benefits rather than himself. The character design of tall, dark, mysterious, with a bandaged face was really cool. The cgi was definitely of it's time but it's tolerable. I liked the action alot, thought it was pretty fun. I had hoped the film showed more of Darkman's enhance abilities than playing him off as a cowardly intelligent scientist. He uses more brains than brawn. Liam Neeson still looks like he hadn't aged ngl, gave a great performance. I wasn't exactly sure if I liked that ending since it was unique and unexpected but I it's one of those times where I wished it had a stereotypical ending to give more closure. I understand that it's sets itself up perfectly for a sequel but it just seemed like we're missing alot of the original character before Darkman emerged. The character development felt a little off towards the end when it felt more selfish for him compared to at the start of the film, he was more loving and empathetic. I already know the sequel is going to be bad because nothing can be compared to how great this original is already. Darkman is a charming, exciting, nostalgic film that'll become a plastic surgeon's worst nightmare
