Looking at the poster and reading the synopsis, I expected a dumb, bloody slasher. But as the movie went on, I realized there was actually a story there, and a pretty cool one.
Considering it’s a low-budget 90s movie, it still managed to make me genuinely uncomfortable. Ngl during the drilling scenes I could literally feel the pain and had to pause the film a few times.
The movie balances suspense and straight-up gore really well without forgetting about the story. The main character is extremely unpleasant, which somehow makes him even more interesting to watch. You see him slowly spiral into madness, taking it out on the patients in his dental chair, and you’re just sitting there watching this insane escalation like… what the hell.
The downsides are the repetitive kill pattern, weak side characters and not much creativity in some parts.
