It’s a classic that still has a bit of charm left in this Modern era. I enjoyed the majority of it but it did feel a bit long at times. The stunts are all done in real time which are always impressive especially since they destroyed a bridge with a rain on it for this one. Definitely give this one a whirl if you haven’t seen it yet.

The general uses a simplistic plot to capture everything special and lovable about movies from it's time. Going for a mix of silent comedy and action adventure is a safe pick, but it works.

Mise-en-scéne isn't a word I like to throw around a lot but The General really uses it to the fullest. Keaton knows exactly what the strengths and weaknesses of 1920s were and it's easy to notice. There's 2 famous scenes in it that alone make it worth a watch.
