HallowMONTH movie 2/31
If I had to say something positive about this movie I would say the lighting is actually really well done. The mix of colour and depth is something even huge Hollywood movies just aren’t doing…and even though half of the movie is inside a commercial for Spirit Halloween, at least all the sets were practical? You can’t say that for some modern marvel movies LOL the image was very crisp and def brought some cozy Halloween vibes.
Besides that, unfortunately this movie is just bad. Not fun bad, just boring bad. I ended up checking my phone for half of it and the movie is short 💀 Besides the obvious commercial of it all (Spirit Halloween is still my fav box store, Capatilism gets me every year) the line delieveries weren’t great (sorry, kids) I didn’t care about any of the charachters, the movie heavily promised Christopher Lloyd which gave a voice performance (don’t blame the guy in his age, but not what was advertised) and the script is just plain bad. The Sound mixer did their best to make this a kids first horror experience but was just cliche and out of place. I just expected something a bit more.
I do hope though the cast had fun making this though! They looked like they were having a blast. The Lighting dude or dudettes need a raise, and if you really need to show one of your kids a fun Halloween film… well put on Halloweentown long before this… but this is passable for that I guess!
Still great vibes heading into October! If you loved this I can totally see why! :)
