A series of random suicides in Rome, Italy are attributed to a heatwave, but a young pathologist named Simona—who is working on a thesis about murders disguised as suicides—suspects otherwise. this was the first part of the logan’s giallo + gelato series (which I think is a really cool idea). I thought they were gonna serve personal portions of gelato but nope it was just a full pint of talents southern butter pecan (this will become relevant later). the movie started off pretty strong. weird ennio Morricone soundtrack, abstract solar flares, and people randomly committing suicide. bizarre. explosive. and intriguing to say the least. Simona then starts hallucinating seeing the cadavers of the lab come back to life and start making love. j was very interested to see how this story would play out, however….it really fell off in the end. maybe it was the convuluted plot, the bananality of the dialogue, or maybe it was the pint of gelato. when identities are finally revealed and intentions are shared I was dozing off for a couple of seconds here and there. definitley a let down and probably my least favorite gelato but I’m still glad I went :)

i have so many things to say about this movie, most of which are just observations like "priest character wears black all the time when the bad guy wears white" so I'll spare you the inane details.

loved it. mimsy farmer you will always be famous to me. The way sex was used as a framing device was so fascinating straight from the beginning.

If this movie was like the opening for 100 minutes it would easily be a 5/5
