This was probably my favorite movie from when I was a kid, and I remember I loved everything about it. Watching it with my dad are some of the best memories I have from my childhood.

“rambo? rambo’s a pussy.”
kind of just a fun film but not a memorable one, but that’s not a bad thing in this case!
sylvester stallone and kurt russell take turns being the centerpiece, and they also take turns poking fun at themselves and the various action films that they’ve been in. all of it combines to make a mostly fun, very 80’s buddy cop film that knows exactly what it’s trying to do.
a lot of it is just so over the top. you have really fun but pointless action scenes, a lot of quips and one liners, and more than a decent amount of raunchier moments that probably made a lot of men go “oh yeah!”. i liked the prison scenes and the breakout the most, so much so that i kind of missed it when we changed scenes.
the main villain, yves perret (jack palance) is a very fun, very dastardly villain, and he matches and even surpasses the efforts of his bigger named co-stars. i laughed quite a bit listening to some of the things he would say and despite being in the middle of some housekeeping, i would stop and watch his scenes whenever he was on the screen.
oh, there’s also a bat-mobile so that’s really fun. good movie!
