This is an underrated Christmas comedy that is one of my favorite adaptations of Charles Dickens’ iconic A Christmas Carol. I couldn’t think of anybody better than Bill Murray to play a modern day Scrooge. He’s mean, he’s angry, and he is a a selfish bastard through and through that hasn’t lived his life to the fullest whatsoever. He’s been too much of a jerk and a cynic and needs a good talking to from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. I love each and every one of the Ghosts. The first one is the most cliché New York cab driver you can think of and he’s CRAZY!!! I love it whenever he says “Niagara Falls”. The next Ghost is my FAVORITE!!! I love her wings, her costume, her makeup, and how she kicks the ever living shit out of Bill Murray!! She punches him, kicks him, and even smashes a toaster into his face!! I also love how when she’s first introduced there’s a lot of bubbles!! And then there’s the last ghost who is a dark and silent spirit that shows Frank the bleak future that could be if he doesn’t put his act together. I loved it when Frank opened the final ghost’s robe and there were three spirits who seemed to be trapped inside of him. It’s a great visual gag. There’s a lot of funny stuff in this movie from Bobcat Goldthwait’s character to Bill Murray’s physical comedy and from the ending in which Frank turns into a hysterical lover of being kind and jolly to the opening scene that showcases the action packed Lee Majors Christmas special “The Night the Reindeer Died”. There’s also some very sad moments that got me teary eyed. The ending is a great way to finish everything off and it put a gigantic smile on my face. By the way, it’s kind of crazy that Robert Mitchum is in this but I’m sure glad he is!! Happy Holidays everybody!! I’ve been watching Christmas movies like crazy this year and I’m sure that all of you guys have been too!! Can’t believe the big day is right around the corner, it’s getting here WAY too fast!!
