"Get your hands together for The Triplets of Belleville!" The Triplets of Belleville, 2003.
This movie feels like an acid trip, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Animation as a medium can tell such creative stories in a way live-action can't; and this movie embraces that. It's beautiful yet ugly at the same time, surreal, wacky, dorky, almost a silent film, fun, and most of all, charming.
There's just something so charming and comforting about the second half of the movie. The visual storytelling really shines during the whole part. There's just a feeling that evokes in me when I see the obese dog, elderly sisterhood, and the unconditional love of the grandmother.
Whether you like it or not, you can't deny that "The Triplets of Belleville" is such a unique, creative, and original film. And all of that is just topped off with an amazing soundtrack.
9.5/10
