it’s a simple plot, well executed — what if humans could no longer reproduce? — and in that sense i very much respect it for being pure science fiction. this thing is really just that one tweak and the societal commentary that follows it
its conclusions are quite spot on, i’d say, but unfortunately in today’s day and age they aren’t all that novel. 2027 doesn’t feel too far away 😬
besides the plot, which is cute, this thing is littered with awesome long, one-take over-the-shoulder scenes showcasing the main character’s decision making and priorities as he navigates a wealth of apocalyptic scenarios
and MAN this cinematography was beautiful. all of the available stills and clips were gorgeous (swipe to the end for hippie michael caine doing a jig — you cannot imagine what music is playing during this scene)
it reminded me of civil war, warfare, and the last of us (video game moreso than tv show)
can’t complain, but i really won’t remember this one in 10 years time. i bet i’d have loved it if i saw it when it came out, though
