at first i hated it cause there was so much time wasted when they could have been doing something to help progress the story faster and the storytelling could have been better as well but then i read some reviews from rotten tomatoes saying its supposed to be a fairytale for kids to believe, youre not supposed to ground it to any reality so now it feels more happy i guess. its 25% on the site btw which is good i still dont like it.
the cast was really great especially the mc. individually, they all did their roles well but the pacing was pretty bad. it was a slow build in the beginning, getting to know more about the fairytale and trying to understand how to get Story home, then some mishaps, then suddenly everything works out at the last minute. when i write it out, it doesnt sound bad but it got boring cause they were so many people but no progression!!
i think this is so woke of me to say as well that in the beginning, he says "shes just a kid" and i thought he was gonna act as a father figure but then it cuts to her cuddling up to him on his lap with only his button up throughout the entire movie, and of course he saw her naked. okay she isnt human so ignore her naivety whatever. and yes, slowly he becomes someone who cares abt her deeply and will do anything to protect her to make up for losing his family. BUT IDK NEAR THE BEGINNING IT FELT LIKE THEY WERE LONGING FOR EACH OTHER SO THANK GOODNESS THEY DIDNT KISS OR ANYTHING. it just felt weird ok maybe im too woke for a 2000s film.
i rather would have read this as a book than watch it.
