wow this was a tough one to watch, because it was so emotionally powerful.
women deserve so much better. unfortunately many women still face this reality, gender based harassment & violence. this film puts a spotlight on this issue and i believe it has done it very well.
josey’s story is not a pleasant one — filled with frustration, rage, and sadness, but it does an incredible job at showing the amount of pain a woman can go through, not be believed, and still overcome it and put on a brave face for others and those she cares about. the unfortunate reality for many of the strong women who’ve been in the same position.
the portrayal of josey done by charlize theron is so well done. i also love amber heards role as young josey, because although only a teen actress at the time, she was able to portray such an emotionally distressing scene ( 🍇) to the point that you felt you were a witness actually there and not able to do anything — i actually started to cry. i just wanted to reach thru the screen and save her. that one guy was such a disgusting pos for not helping or speaking up. her portrayal was incredibly moving and such a vital part to the story. the fact she could portray such a scene so well helped moved this story in such a way.
joseys friend glory at the end genuinely had me tearing up. though physically disabled, she stood by not only her close friend, but a survivor. the other women were giving such hateful and misogynistic energy for no reason.
i’m glad everything worked out well for josey in the end and it really sucks what she had to go through. i hate men & fake feminists.
