sooo into everything happening here and this is somehow one of the worst movies i've ever seen. cronenberg you're so cool and this suckssss. i think a lot of this could have been improved by some better acting and cinematography, because it's quite similar to crash in that nothing really happens but it's also fascinating from a psychological standpoint (but crash is way better). like every scene of dialogue they just talk about shit and nothing moves the plot forward. please have a dramatic moment 💔 guy pearce starting to be typecast as psychopathic gay man i LOVE YOU man. david i love you too just make sure your actors have like emotions in the next one

Could not for the LIFE OF ME get into this film at all. Visually stunning at times mixed in with an intriguing premise that sadly goes to narnia and back and I completely lost interest.

this really settled into me on rewatch. the first time i was kind of focused on how strange it all was, but now it just feels heavy in a different way. like every scene has this quiet sadness to it that never really lifts. it’s not dramatic, it’s more like this low, constant weight. i felt way more uncomfortable with the whole concept this time too. it starts off feeling like a way to cope, but the longer you sit with it, the more it feels obsessive and kind of isolating. like grief turning into something you can’t escape instead of something you move through. it also feels super in line with david rronenberg, but in a much more stripped-back way. all his usual ideas are still there, the body, technology, control, but it’s much more personal, and i felt every moment of that. the whole movie just has this cold, distant vibe that i couldn’t shake. everyone feels slightly disconnected, like they’re not fully present, and it makes everything feel even lonelier. i didn’t need answers this time either. it’s better when you just let it be what it is. it’s weird, quiet, and kind of haunting in a way that stuck with me a lot more on rewatch.
