First off, I want to make it clear that I had no plans to keep supporting this franchise. I really didn't like part one at all; it was just not my cup of tea. Part 2 was somewhat better, but it still had its issues, and the third part was a huge letdown. The only redeeming quality I found in part 3 was the debut of his famous hockey mask.
Believe me, I get that these aren't going for Oscars, they're just your typical cheesy 80's slasher flicks. I'm not holding my breath for them to win any awards, but I still expect them to be really good movies. Based on what I've seen so far, "The Final Chapter" and the 2009 remake are the only good ones in the franchise, although I'm aware I still need to watch parts 5 and 6.
'Joseph Zito, director of ‘The Final Chapter’, has masterfully created one of the top films in the Friday the 13th series. The film's editing and camera work surpass those seen in typical slasher movies. Even when looking past the lead roles like 'Crispin Glover' and 'Corey Feldman,' the whole cast delivers outstanding performances that are equally remarkable compared to previous films.
Friday the 13th part 4 kicks off right where the last part left off. The characters are way more likable and stronger this time around. The story doesn't really bring anything new, but it's at least more engaging than "Part 3", and there's real tension and excitement leading up to the big showdown. Jason Vorhees has definitely stepped up a notch, showing he's more than just a human. Jason is definitely turning into an unbeatable beast! I really like how they kept Jason hidden in the dark and mystery for most of the movie. You only really catch a glimpse of him fully in the third act. He looked awesome. His mask was on point. Part 4 is definitely the most intense Jason, he is seriously pissed off in this one!
Overall, Part 4 is a fantastic Friday the 13th movie, this is definitely one of my favorites.
