A stand of birches. Sunlight brightens and dims, revealing more or less of the woods. A little grass is on the forest floor. Is there a shape in the shadows? Something green is out of focus. The light flashes, and the screen goes dark from time to time. We look up close at the bark of trees. Is the god of the forest to be seen?

this feels like a mixture of Mathis Müllers Mirror (2003) and Micheal Snows Wavelength, the mixture of distinct harsh changing shadows and differently filters and focuses really made some of the shots look beautiful even though you cant discern what your seeing. love stuff like this

Something existentially dreadful behind the eyes here. Haunting to the core. Light crashes in and out of the screen, feels as if your head is slammed down on the celluloid. It’s a whip and a flash of sensation. But that is Brakhage at all points.
