Masterful cinematography, really ahead of its time. Especially the blocking and framing. There were a few mind blowing shots in here, even compared with modern standards. This is one of the best shot movies of the 50s I’ve seen.
Whilst I enjoyed the dialogue and there were two stellar leading performances as well as a great ensemble overall I found the story a bit uninteresting, it felt it was trying to be more suspenseful then it should’ve been, and ended up having too little consequence in the story.
This is a classic, the noir vibe is immaculate and the scenery of New York and the sets are amazing, and there are some deep set themes about Capitalist greed, jealousy, power and survival.
I definitely see why people love this, it is definetly a good movie, and I think if the story was tweaked it would definetly be higher in my books, but unfortunately I was bored at times and won’t be rushing back to watch it again.
Still a good movie though, and would recommend. Especially if you’re a fan of film in the 50s
